Harold “Rocky” Rasmussen

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Harold Franklin “Rocky” Rasmussen passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the Colony Nursing Home in Thousand Oaks.

Rocky was born Nov. 27, 1930 in Nebraska, S.D., to the late Alfred and Hanna Rasmussen.

Rocky has a long and active life. He served in the Marine Corps from 1950-1953 with an honorable discharge. He was a true patriot; he loved his country. He loved his family and friends. Rocky enjoyed traveling, cruising, and spending time in the Upper Peninsula at his grandson, Bill Dean’s, camp Par-A-Dice in Ralph. He also enjoyed reading, mostly his mail, and watching old westerns. He also enjoyed listening to old-time music.

Rocky will be missed by all who knew him. He would sit outside in his driveway waving to all who drove or walked by. They will also miss him with that hello. He was gone home to be with his Lord and with all those who have gone before him.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Krisanne Dennocenzo (David) of Hardwood, Bill Dean (Kathy) of Iron Mountain, Lori Morehead (Patrick) of Idaho, Debbie Campbell of Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Louise Dean; sister-in-law, Blanch Lantz; brothers-in-law, Herbert Lantz and Don Lantz; great-grandchildren, Dean Dennocenzo (Taylor), Dylan Dennocenzo (Madeline), Brandy Weeson (Drew), Tyler Ellis (Rachel), Alyssa Nelson, Isaiah Morehead, Ruthanne Morehead, Teresa Holden, Karen Holden, Trevor Holden (Emma) Dillon Holden (Raven); great-great-grandchildren, Ava Dennocenzo, Parker Dennocenzo, Jules Dennocenzo, Jasper Dennocenzo, Taylor Dennocenzo, Ethan Dennocenzo, Vivian Weeson, Miles Weeson, Aksel Ellis, Maisie Ellis, Brooks Holden, Tate Holden, Bentley Holden, Maya Holden, Macey McDonald; and many other nieces and nephews; special niece Linda McClung (Danny); special nephews Bill Lantz (Judy),who took great care of Rocky the last year and a half of his life; special friends, Ed and Connie Bermudez, Mario Garcia, Yolanda Riverra and many others.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Myrtle (Bonnie) Rasmussen; sons, David Allen Dean, Kenneth Dean; daughter-in-law, Janet Dean; granddaughter, Reene McDonald; great-grandson, Robert McDonald; and special companion, Delores Lantz.

Services and burial were held on April 6, 2023, at the Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary and Memorial Park in Westlake, Calif.
