Linda Lee Atkinson
BRADENTON, Fla. — Linda Lee Atkinson, 66 of Bradenton, Fla. passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2023, with her loving husband by her side.
Linda was born on Oct. 11, 1956, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Robert Uren and Betty (Perron) Uren. She was a 1974 graduate of Kingsford High School and was employed as an EMT specialist with Dickinson County Ambulance Service.
Linda married Douglas Atkinson on July 10, 1980. Together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage.
Upon retirement, Linda and Doug moved to Austin, Texas and later Bradenton, where they were able to enjoy the beach and many beautiful sunsets together before her health started to fail. She loved to crotchet, especially hats, for her many friends. Her talent was a true gift.
Linda struggled with COPD/pulmonary hypertension and battled it with the help of her husband who was her caregiver until the time of her passing.
Our family is forever grateful to Doug for his endless love and care that allowed Linda to remain at home while she battled the cruel disease.
Linda is survived by the love of her life, Doug Atkinson, her sons, Jason Porath of Iron Mountain, and Chris (Jessica) Atkinson and their children Olive and Lincoln of Ashwaubenon, Wis.; mother, Betty Uren of Green Bay, Wis.; brothers, Scott (Pam) Uren of Racine, Wis. and Robert (Ann) Uren of Franklin, Ohio; and sister, Paula (Mike) Hilbert of DePere, Wis.; along with many friends and family too numerous to list.
Linda was proceeded in death by her father, Robert Uren, mother and father-in-law, Ray and Janet Atkinson, brother-in-law, Dave Atkinson; along with many special aunts, uncles and cousins.
Linda’s wish was to be cremated and her ashes will be released in the Gulf of Mexico, Tampa Bay and Palma Sola Bay. The beach was her happy place and we are at peace knowing she is no longer struggling.
The family would like to thank Tidewell Hospice care, her nurse Lee and the many people who reached out to her in her final weeks. We are forever grateful for all of you.
