Roger Clark

VULCAN — Roger H. Clark, 73, of Vulcan, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, with his family by his side, at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

He was born on Nov. 10, 1949 in Norway, the son of the late Leslie and Mable (Ott) Clark.

Roger graduated from Norway High School in 1967, and moved to Rockford, Ill. where he started working as a machinist.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and when his tour was over, he went back to working in Rockford until the early 1980s when he moved back to Vulcan.

Roger worked for Wendricks Truss in Hermansville for over 20 years.

He married Laurie Swanson on July 3, 1993, she preceded him on Sept. 29, 1995.

Roger was very proud of building his own log home, he enjoyed hunting, being outside, was an avid sports fan and cheered on the Lions, working on old cars and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Roger is survived by his significant other of 28 years, Pam Ness, and her family; daughters, Carly Clark and Jillian (Jacob Coppens) Clark; grandchildren, Nolan Hendrickson, Lennon and Bowynn Coppens; brothers, Chuck (Mary Ann) Clark of Waucedah and Rick (Barb) Clark of Luxemberg, Wis.; sisters, Tammy Clark of Escanaba, Loreen Howe of Port Huron, Mich. and Jeanne (Dave) Mott of Norway; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Clark; and brother-in-law, Jim Howe.

Family will greet friends on Friday, Feb. 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Danielson of Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway, officiating.
