Stephon ‘Steve’ Baird
HERMANSVILLE — Stephon “Steve” Vaughn Baird, 72, of Hermansville, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, Wis.
He was born on March 10, 1950, in Louisville, Ill., son of the late Vaughn and Martha (Pittman) Baird.
Steve moved to the Upper Peninsula in 1974 and bought Early American Fence company. He later would build satellite dishes and then onto custom built trailers. Most recently he opened Trails End Saloon and was so hoping to get it up and going again. He loved the U.P. and the friends and family he made there.
Some of Steve’s favorite things included watching his son, Brett, play sports for the North Central Jets and the hometown boys bringing home all those state titles. Go Jets! The Green Bay Packers. Go Pack Go! Apple fritters, Menards sale shopping … any sale shopping, The American Flag and helping others whenever and however he could.
Steve is survived by his three children, Rebecca (Michael) Foreman, Stephon “Spike” (Lynn) Baird and Brett (fiancee: Morgan DuPont); a sister, Connie (Barry) Shideler; five grandchildren, Anthony, Macenzie, Austin, Trenton and Cameran; five great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rene.
Becci and Spike want to say a special “Thank you” to their extended family ‘The Smiths’ for always being there for them and their dad. Blood doesn’t make a family, Love does!
A service to celebrate Steve Baird’s life will be held at noon on Saturday Jan. 21, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding with Steve’s grandson, Austin Martin, officiating.
There will be continued celebration following the service at the R Place restaurant for all his family and friends.
