Josephine ‘Josie’ Millan

ARMSTRONG CREEK, Wis. — Josephine “Josie” Ann Millan, 93, of Armstrong Creek, Wis. passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, while under the care of Maryhill Manor in Niagara, Wis.

Josephine was born on May 4, 1929, in Armstrong Creek to the late Stanley and Katherine (Tusinski) Wall. She was a lifelong resident of the area.

She met Ignatius “Iggy” Millan following his discharge from the U.S. Navy when he moved to Armstrong Creek. The couple were married July 17, 1948. They were blessed with seven children.

She was an active member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Armstrong Creek. For many years she worked by her husband’s side first as dairy farmers and then at the family owned and operated sawmill where she could be found piling wood and bookkeeping.

She enjoyed her vacations to Hawaii, Colorado and Las Vegas to name a few. Josephine loved to bake bread and feed whoever walked through her door, ensuring no one leaves on an empty stomach. Every meal should conclude with ice cream for desert. Josephine volunteered every year for the annual Polish Heritage Day.

In the summer, she enjoyed sitting on the porch sunning her feet while visiting with family and friends. Josie was also a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Most important to her was family. She regularly supported her children and grandchildren at their sporting events.

Survivors include daughters, Theresa (Gary) Majewski, Joan (John) McLain, Susan (Chuck) Komp, Dolores Raboin; sons, Paul (Kathy) Millan, David (Dawn) Millan, Patrick (Kara) Millan; grandchildren, Paul, Christy, Kattie, Danny, Amy, Andy, Stanley, Bill, Jake, Jayme, Justin, Christina, Michael, LeAnn, Jonathan, Steven, Ashley, Brody; and 41 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and their spouses, Mary Piontek, Julia Gudowicz, Helen Olszewski; brothers and their spouses, Joe Wall, Mike Wall, Tony Wall, Walter Wall, John Wall, Adam Wall, Stephen Wall and Andy Wall.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Armstrong Creek at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21, with Father Madanu Lourdu and co-celebrant Father John Cerkas officiating.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. until time of Mass. Burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery in the spring of 2023.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking family and friends to consider a donation to Mary Hill Manor of Niagara.
