John E. Criel

GOODMAN, Wis. — John E. Criel, of Goodman, Wis., died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Oconto Falls, Wis. He was 75 years old.

He was born on April 16, 1947, in Goodman, a son of the late John M. and Pauline M. (Kelly) Criel.

He married Shelly Gorr on Aug. 10, 1990, in Iron Mountain.

After graduating from Goodman High School, John attended Michigan Tech, where he obtained a degree in mechanical engineering.

He was a life-long resident of Goodman. He was a member of the local sportsman club and a past member of the Goodman Volunteer Fire Department.

John’s hobbies included dancing, riding his Harley, supporting the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers. Most of all, he cherished his time spent with his family. His grandchildren will always remember him for his “Donald Duck” impersonations.

Survivors include his wife, Shelly; children, Candee (Tony) Marx, Lacy (Levi) Tibbs, John Jr. (Jill) Criel, Christopher (Tamara) Danielczak; grandchildren, Cameron, Dillon, Abigail, Eva, Alaina, Lily, Randall; sister, Cheryl Boyce-Jacobs; and brother, Danny Criel.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at Weber-Hill Funeral Home in Crandon, Wis. Funeral service will be held at noon at the funeral home with Pastor Don Dewing officiating. Burial will take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Goodman following services at the funeral home.
