Gregory A. Christensen

KINGSFORD — Gregory A. Christensen, 72, of Kingsford, went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022.

Greg was born Jan. 10, 1950, in Crosby, Minn., son of the late Joseph and Marlys (Thoms) Christensen. He moved to the area when he was 13 years old and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1968.

Greg married Denise Farrington on April 22, 1995, in Iron Mountain. He was employed for many years with the City of Iron Mountain Public Works Department. Greg retired in 2010 and continued to work part-time for the city as a groundskeeper at Cemetery Park.

Greg loved the Lord and his faith was strong. He also loved his family and they were always his top priority. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. Greg was a hardworking man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His passion was being outdoors and he especially enjoyed spending time at the family cottage, kayaking and dog sledding as a recreational musher. He will be missed tremendously by his family and friends.

Greg is survived by his wife, Denise; four children, Thad (Connie) Christensen of Henderson, Nev., Angi (Monty) Watson of Michigan, Brandon (Mikki) Hall of Iron Mountain and Lia Hall and her very special cat, Chloe of Kingsford; his mother-in-law, Lisa Farrington; two sisters, Joy Christensen and Jane Weber; five grandchildren, Bradley, Chelsey, Logan, Anna and Samantha; two great grandchildren, Alison and Quinn; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy Christensen, Michael (Linda) Farrington, Becky (Bill) Goodman, Mary (Chris) Ninomiya and Jimmy Farrington; many nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly, along with his close friend, Tom Quick.

In addition to his parents, Greg was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tim Christensen and Dan Christensen; a brother-in-law, Bob Weber; and his father-in-law, James Farrington.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 12, at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A Celebration of Life will follow at noon at the funeral home. Ed Farrington and Amy Lindstrom will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
