F. Dawn Riutta
KINGSFORD — F. Dawn Riutta, 86, of Kingsford, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the Marshfield Medical Center Dickinson in Iron Mountain.
Dawn was born and raised in Pennsylvania. She attended a fine arts school in Chicago, which is where she met Ed through a mutual friend. She married the love of her life in 1958, and they had 63 wonderful years together.
They lived in Chicago and the surrounding area until 1964 when they moved to the Copper Country where Ed’s family lived. In 1969 they moved to Iron Mountain, and Dawn worked at Garden Village School for 10 years as a teacher’s aide and librarian. She was a member of Trinity U.M.C. where she was an organist for 11 years, a member and past president of U.M.W., a past member & president of Lydia Circle, Hannah Priscilla Circle and Mary Circle. Dawn also served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, in addition to being a youth counselor, a past member & president of CPCW, a past member and president of Chapter AN, PEO.
Dawn’s love of music and crafts kept her involved in church-based activities. She also loved gardening, reading & playing piano, and she started an exercise class for the ladies in the area, which continued for many years.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark (Lori) Riutta and Scott (Kris) Riutta; four grandchildren, Shannon (Bryan) Stith, Geoff Riutta, Sarah Riutta (Dan), and Neal Riutta (Megan); one great-grandson, Kayler.
Along with her parents, James and Florence Dick, and her husband, Ed, who passed in 2021, Dawn was preceded in death by a brother, J. Dwight Dick; and a sister-in-law, Carol Dick.
Visitation will be on Monday, Aug. 22, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rev. Geri Hamlen will officiate.
