Nora Hanson

Nora was born Aug. 18, 1929, in Aurora, Wis., daughter of the late Bert and Mary (Carollo) Pozza. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1948 and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Nora married John Hanson on Aug. 9, 1952, in Philadelphia and he preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 2017.

She worked as a sales clerk for several area businesses over the years. Nora was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. She enjoyed golfing, square dancing, playing cards and reading.

She further enjoyed lunches and visiting at the Breen Center and her coffee time at the Holiday Gas Station prior to COVID-19.

Nora is survived by a son, Gregg (Debra) Hanson of Green Bay, Wis.; a daughter, Sue (John) Carlson of Sagola; grandchildren, Valerie (Jessie) Oskey, Nick (Betsy) Hanson, Wesley (Jessica) Hanson, Jodi (Jeff) Caler, Nick (Paula) Carlson, Jennifer (Dan) Nelson, Brooke (Brad) Knaus, Abby (Steve) Perry and Joseph Hanson; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rena Varvil; and a sister, Doloris “Dee” (George) Weber.

Graveside services at Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain will be held in the spring and announced at that time.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
