Miller wins as judge in Marinette County

Other area municipal races decided Tuesday

Incumbent Judge Peggy L. Miller prevailed in a close race Tuesday against challenger DeShea D. Morrow to retain her position as Marinette County Circuit Court Branch 1 judge in Marinette County.

According to unofficial results posted by the Marinette County clerk’s office, Miller received 6,971 votes to Morrow’s 6,833 votes.

Miller was appointed to the judgeship by Gov. Tony Evers after Judge Jane Sequin retired in July. She had previously served as family court commissioner, court commissioner and register in probate.

Morrow has been Marinette County’s elected district attorney since 2017.

Incumbent James A. Morrison was unopposed for reelection as Marinette County Circuit Court Branch 2 judge. He received 12,475 votes.

Results from other contested races in Marinette County include:

CITY OF NIAGARA: Incumbent Mayor Joseph Johnston defeated challenger Sean King, 354 to 67. There were three candidates on the ballot for three at-large city council seats — Don Shampo led with 322 votes, Michael Darne received 256 votes and Lynn Schabo Burke totaled 223 votes. Karl Lamoreaux received 29 write-in votes.

TOWN OF AMBERG: Glenn M. Mattison Jr. defeated incumbent Ron Magley for a town board supervisor’s position, 266 to 89.

TOWN OF DUNBAR: Incumbent Town Board Chairperson Bruce Radtke turned back a challenge from Robert S. Grell, 249 to 59.

TOWN OF PEMBINE: Three candidates vied for two town board supervisor seats. Elected were challenger Mark Willis, 218 votes, and incumbent Anthony Erno, 211 votes. Incumbent Christopher Bigelow received 138 votes.

In the town of Armstrong Creek in Forest County, incumbent George Mazur was the only candidate on the ballot for two open supervisor seats. Mazur received 76 votes. Reported write-in totals were Stan Maruszczak, 76 votes; Joseph Moddie, 65 votes; Louis Kozlowski, 47 votes; and Roman Wawrykiw, 30 votes.

There were also no candidates on the ballot for town clerk in Armstrong Creek. There were 15 unspecified write-ins reported.

Barbara Barker was unopposed for Armstrong Creek chairperson and received 145 votes to 43 for write-in Bob Millan.
