IRON MOUNTAIN — Time to get ready to collect Easter eggs.

Several area communities have organized egg hunts and activities in celebration of the holiday, with the first round starting next weekend and others set for Easter weekend. The April 19 activities will be highlighted next week.

The April 12 events include:

IRON MOUNTAIN

The Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain will host its first Glow-in-the-Dark Egg Hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12.

“We’ve had such great turnouts for our Glow-in-the-Dark Halloween golf that we decided to add another glow-in-the-dark seasonal event for the community to enjoy,” Children’s Programmer and event coordinator Marissa Miner said.

Area children through age 12 are invited to join in on the “eggcitement,” she said.

Hundreds of eggs will be filled with treats and prizes. “Special golden eggs can be exchanged for bigger prizes and some eggs will have coupons for a free book,” Miner said.

In complete darkness, kids will be able to hunt down hundreds of glowing eggs that are hidden throughout the children’s room.

Activities will kick off at 10 a.m. in the children’s room with the first hunt for ages 4 through 6 as well as all disabled individuals.

The older group that includes ages 7 to 12, can take part in the second hunt set for 11 a.m., or the third at 11:30 a.m.

They will have a separate “mini” egg hunt for toddlers ages 3 and younger in the multi-purpose room.

Participants will be let in on a first-come, first-served basis, Miner said.

Registration is not required; however, they will limit the number of kids in each room at the same time.

Kids can take part in games and crafts throughout the library while they wait their turn to hunt eggs.

They have also planned a ducky game in the multi-purpose room, as well as more games for the little hunters.

“Please join us in welcoming spring with the fun event,” Miner said.

The hunt is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

HERMANSVILLE

The Easter bunny will make his way to Hermansville at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, for their annual Egg Hunt at the William Anderson Sportsman’s Club at W5616 First St.

Children through age 10 are invited to hunt for candy-filled eggs.

They have about 5,000 eggs and 400 prizes available this year, said Stephanie Malone, who is in her third year as co-organizer along with Sarah Lundin.

Kids are reminded to bring baskets to collect their eggs.

They will also have eggs that contain tickets to be redeemed for prizes, including the top prizes of bikes, scooters and even kayaks this year, Malone said.

Organizers have a number of raffle baskets as well. Raffle tickets are $2 each or seven for $10 and can be purchased during the event. All the funds raised from the raffle will go toward next year’s event.

In addition, they will host a bake sale during the hunt, offering a large variety of bars, muffins, cupcakes and cookies in the clubhouse. Prices will range from 50 cents to $4 items.

In case of inclement weather, they will reschedule the event for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at the Sportsman’s Club. They will post updates on the Hermansville Easter Egg Hunt Facebook page.

NIAGARA, Wis.

Niagara-area children are invited to the annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Memorial Park behind St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.

The kids will be divided into separate age groups to hunt for eggs.

In addition to the Niagara Women’s Club, the event is sponsored by the Niagara Lions Club, Knights of Columbus of Niagara and the Niagara Area Business Association.

CRYSTAL FALLS

An Easter Egg Hunt and Story Hour is planned at the Crystal Falls District Community Library on Saturday, April 12.

The egg hunt will begin at 9:30 a.m., with an Easter story to follow.

Every child will get to choose an Easter-themed book to take home to add to their personal library. Kids will also enjoy crafts and refreshments.

Youngsters are encouraged to bring their Easter basket, as the library only has a limited supply.

The library is at 237 Superior Ave. in downtown Crystal Falls.

Area children can then hop on down to Runkle Lake Park at 11 a.m. for the annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Crystal Falls Business Association.

They will have more than 2,000 eggs up for grabs for children ages 1to 10.

Separate areas will be designated for different age groups. Kids are reminded to bring their baskets or bags for collecting.

The Easter bunny is expected to make an appearance to visit with the kids.

IRON RIVER

More than 1,500 eggs will be up for grabs at the annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 12, at the West Iron County District Library in Iron River.

Activities will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. at the library for toddler through age 12.

In addition to treats, young participants can do crafts and activities.

They will also have a sign-up for door prizes.
