NORWAY — Feeding America has canceled the free food distribution event set for Thursday afternoon at the Crossroads Alliance church facility, 130 Odill Drive in Norway.

With the Mackinac Bridge closed for a period of time due to falling ice after the winter storm Sunday and Monday, the truck has been unable to travel to the Upper Peninsula, a spokesperson for the alliance said.

Feeding America brings the mobile food pantry to the area from the West Michigan Food Bank near Grand Rapids.

No information was given as to rescheduling.

The Feeding America West Michigan Food distributions are sponsored in part through a grant from the Dickinson Area Community Foundation Hunger Fund. Additional sponsors include Bethany Lutheran Church, Evangelical Covenant Church, Grace Methodist Church of Norway, St. Mary’s/St. Barbara’s parishes, Community Bible Chapel, and Faithorn United Methodist Church.
