Women’s Day march in Iron Mountain

The Dickinson County Democratic Party marched at 11 a.m. Saturday in downtown Iron Mountain for International Women’s Day. More than 60 people took part to protest actions taken by the Trump administration, as well as to show solidarity with groups being affected by recent decisions, a spokesperson for the group said. Demonstrators carried a wide array of signs showing support for women’s, LGBTQ and labor rights; Ukraine; Canada; Social Security; and many other issues. The main speaker for the event was Lynne Wilson, a retired teacher from the area. Others also addressed the group at the conclusion of the march. Participants reportedly also came from Menominee, Iron and Marquette counties as well as neighboring Wisconsin communities. (Submitted photo)
