Winter storm warning for region
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Dickinson, Iron and Menominee counties in the Upper Peninsula for 10 a.m. Sunday through 7 a.m. Monday.
Heavy snow is expected, from 4 to 7 inches, with winds gusting as high as 35 mph, which could make travel difficult, the NWS advises. The high Sunday is predicted to be 32 degrees in Iron Mountain, the low Sunday night 28.
The NWS winter storm warning also includes in northern Wisconsin the counties of Florence, Marinette, Forest, Langlade and northern Oconto, with the greatest accumulations northwest of Crivitz and Wausaukee.
Gogebic County in the Upper Peninsula is under a winter storm warning as well, from 4 a.m. Sunday through 1 p.m. Monday. The NWS advisory has accumulations of 5 to 10 inches of snow, plus a light glaze of ice.
