The bakery team at Super One Foods in Iron Mountain was busy Monday making about 8,000 paczki for Fat Tuesday in preparation for the Lenten season. The traditional deep-fried, rich pastries are still made from scratch at the local store. Paczki isn’t just a typical jelly donut or Bismarck, they are made with a more decadent dough and larger in size. Super One Foods offers a variety of options, including Bavarian custard, blueberry, cherry, raspberry, strawberry, apple-raspberry, and lemon-flavored fillings paired with glazed, powdered or sugar toppings. The bakery team said they continue to see an increase in orders each year. The stores will have its donut cases, along with several other cases, filled today for the morning rush. Paczki will remain available at the store through the week. From left, Samantha Bartels, Jennifer Nelson and Karri Walsh package paczki for today’s expected rush of customers.
