MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter will celebrate its 50th anniversary with an evening of prizes, snacks and music.

UPAWS will host its Paws for a Cause Gala from 6 to 10 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday at the Marquette Holiday Inn, in honor of its animals and the history of its shelter organization. Attendees can expect music, auctions, raffle prizes, hors d’oeuvres, an awards ceremony and more.

Every dollar raised directly benefits the care of the shelter animals, as well as helping them find homes.

There will also be the chance to win prizes from community partners in both 50-50 and bucket raffles.

Tickets are $45 per individual, or $350 for a group of eight with a table and can be purchased online.
