Judge LaCost’s district court report for January
IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Judge Julie A. LaCost has issued her activity report for the month of January.
New criminal cases for the month included 21 felonies, 24 misdemeanors, three felony drunk driving and two OWI/OUID misdemeanors.
New civil cases for the month included 35 general civil cases, six small claims and five landlord/tenant disputes.
New traffic cases included 104 civil infractions, 12 misdemeanors and 30 non-traffic civil infractions.
Criminal dispositions for the month included two felony guilty pleas with three dismissed, 12 felony preliminary exams with one bound over to circuit court and 11 waived over to circuit court, one felony drunken driving reduced to a misdemeanor guilty plea, two felony drunken driving that were waived over to circuit court, 10 misdemeanors and seven OWI/OUID misdemeanors.
Civil dispositions included 29 general civil, one small claims and two landlord/tenant.
Traffic dispositions included 62 civil infractions and 16 misdemeanors. There were 11 non-traffic civil infractions.
The district court handled one court trial, one probation violation hearing, five drug-sobriety court referrals, two defendants were referred to the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, two defendants were referred to the Shoplifters Counseling Program, two defendants were referred to the sheriff work van, and seven defendants were referred to alcohol counseling.
There were seven show cause hearings and four marriage ceremonies.
Funds turned over to the Dickinson County treasurer totaled $45,232.56. Funds turned over to the court trust totaled $9,007.82.
