Ice storm warning in region through 7 p.m. Central time Sunday
A National Weather Service ice storm warning remains in effect for Dickinson, Iron and Menominee counties in the Upper Peninsula, plus Florence, Marinette and Forest counties in Wisconsin through 7 p.m. Sunday.
Significant icing is expected, with total snow and sleet accumulations between 1 and 6 inches and ice accumulations up to four-tenths of an inch in Michigan and ice between a half-inch and eight-tenths of an inch in Wisconsin from tonight through Sunday.
The region should expect power outages and tree damage due to the ice, the NWS advises.
Travel is strongly discouraged and could be impossible, the NWS states, adding those who must travel should keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
The NWS also issued a winter storm warning through 7 p.m. Central time Sunday for Houghton, Gogebic, Baraga, Ontonagon, Keweenaw, Chippewa and Mackinac counties in Michigan plus Vilas and Iron counties in Wisconsin
