Dickinson spring road weight limits begin Monday
IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Road Commission will enforce spring weight restrictions on all county roads beginning at 7 a.m. Monday until further notice.
During these restrictions, and depending on actual conditions, alleys and some gravel roads may not be plowed, DCRC Managing Director James Harris said. This is because the damage and rutting that would occur outweighs the short-term benefit of plowing, he said.
Once and if alleys and gravel roads are again able to withstand loading requirements, plowing operations will resume. The commission will also consider plowing in certain necessary or emergency situations, Harris said.
While weight restrictions are in effect, up to normal loads are permitted on roads designated as “All Seasons.” Hauling permits will be approved on a case-by-case basis.
A list of all-season roads can be found on the commission’s website at www.dickinsoncrc.com.
