MARINETTE, Wis. — Two people from Chicago now face numerous drug charges after being arrested Jan. 27 during a traffic stop in Wausaukee, Wis.
A Marinette County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over the vehicle on U.S. 141 for an equipment violation and noticed an odor of marijuana, according to a news release from Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller.
The office’s K-9, Vinny, was called in and “alerted” on the vehicle. A search turned up a large package with multiple smaller packages of various drugs that included cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, MDMA/Ecstasy pills, marijuana, heroin and prescription pills. In total, authorities seized 129.82 grams of illegal drugs, Miller said in the news release.
Online court records show Preston Bennett, 46, made an initial appearance Monday in Marinette County Circuit Court via Zoom on 11 counts, seven of them felonies that included possession with intent of fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine — all modified as party to a crime, second or subsequent offense and as a repeater — and THC as a second and subsequent offense, along with maintaining a drug-trafficking place. Marinette County Circuit Judge James Morrison set bond at $10,000 cash with conditions. The initial appearance was adjourned to Feb. 17.
Dominique Grayson, 38, also made an initial appearance Monday via Zoom, on 10 counts that include six felonies such as possession with intent of fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine — all modified as a second or subsequent offense, as a repeater and as party to a crime — and THC as a second and subsequent offense. She, too, had bond set at $10,000 cash with conditions and her initial appearance adjourned to Feb. 17, according to online court records.
