John Fornetti Dental Center provides day of free dental care
IRON MOUNTAIN — For the 19th year, The John Fornetti Dental Center will again host “Dentistry from the Heart” from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 100 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain.
At this event, adults age 18 and older can receive their choice of a cleaning, a filling or an extraction at no out-of-pocket cost.
This event is an opportunity that the entire Fornetti Dental Center team looks forward to providing, according to a news release. “For people who struggle to afford dental care, this day of free dental care is not just about addressing immediate dental issues but also about reflecting compassion, improving overall health and ensuring that people have access to the care they need,” the release states.
“Our mission every day is to give people hope especially when they feel there is none,” said Dr. John Fornetti, dental center owner. “If you have ever experienced dental pain, you know it can be excruciating and distracting. And when it feels like it will not end or you do not have options, you can feel hopeless. There is no better way to fulfill that mission than to give back to those in our community and area who truly need it the most.”
Fornetti says the services provided can typically range from more than $100 to $400 and higher. While contending with higher prices on everyday living costs, individuals and families may sacrifice their dental health to ensure they can afford housing, groceries and transportation needs. In past years, the dental center has served about 100 to 200 guests on this one day alone, which underscores the need for dental services for those who might otherwise go without vital care.
The program operates on a “first-come, first-served” basis, with no advance bookings for appointments. It is recommended the public monitor the weather and dress accordingly in case the waiting line extends outside the building into the outdoor elements.
