IRON MOUNTAIN — An after-hours kitchen fire at Wendy’s restaurant was extinguished early Tuesday after Iron Mountain firefighters forced their way into the building.
Firefighters were dispatched at 2:48 a.m. Tuesday to the restaurant at 800 S. Stephenson Ave., Director of Police and Fire Services Jeff Solka said in a news release.
Crews arrived in less than four minutes to find smoke coming from the south side of the building, he said. The fire in the kitchen was quickly extinguished and a search was performed to ensure no further fire conditions existed, Solka said.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Assisting were Iron Mountain Police Department, Iron Mountain Department of Public Works, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police and DTE Energy.
The restaurant reported Tuesday on its Facebook page that it was temporarily closed.
The initial response included an engine and four firefighters, Solka said. Off-duty personnel were summoned and an additional two firefighters, an engine, and a utility pickup truck arrived at the scene, he said.
