IRON MOUNTAIN — Germany’s Markus Eisenbichler bid farewell to Pine Mountain with a championship performance today at the FIS Continental Cup.
Eisenbichler had the day’s best jump at 453 feet and took first place in the fourth event hosted over a span of three days by the Kiwanis Ski Club.
Eisenbichler, 33, who plans to retire from jumping at the end of this season, had a second effort of 448 feet to top second-place Markus Mueller of Austria. Mueller had leaps of 446 and 431 feet.
Third place went to Robert Johansson of Norway at 417 and 423 feet. Johansson was the winner Friday and also claimed victory in the second competition during Saturday’s doubleheader. Manuel Fettner of Austria was the champion Saturday morning.
Fettner, who earned an Olympic gold medal when Austria won the large hill team event at the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing, China, set a new hill record during the Pine Mountain meet. He flew 461 feet both Friday and Saturday, eclipsing the 456-foot record set and shared by Eisenbichler and Jonas Schuster of Austria in 2024.

Austria’s Clemens Aigner had a 472-foot jump at Giant Pine in 2020 before a new scaffold was built at the storied jumping venue that has hosted tournaments since 1939.
Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson was the title sponsor for this year’s tournament.
