Body of missing MTU student found

HOUGHTON — The body of a 36-year-old Michigan Tech graduate student reported missing late last week has been found.

Houghton police have determined that no foul play is suspected, and did not reveal when or where the body was found.

The university said in a news release Tuesday that the community’s thoughts are with Matthew Sisson’s family during this difficult time. The MTU Center for Student Mental Health and Well-being is available for students impacted by Sisson’s loss who may need support.

On Saturday, Michigan Technological University’s Department of Public Safety and Police Services requested the public’s assistance in locating Sisson.

He was last in contact with family on the morning of Feb. 11, when he mentioned he would be heading to Walmart. Michigan Tech said that no other information will be disclosed at this time out of respect for Sisson’s family.

Starting at $2.99/week.
