Robert “Butch” Wedin of Iron Mountain won the national junior tournament in 1960 when he sailed 312 feet at Pine Mountain. Wedin was a member of the U.S. Olympic team that year, competing in Squaw Valley, Calif. In 2008 he was inducted into the American Ski Jumping Hall of Fame. He has been a Kiwanis Ski Club member for 71 of the club’s 90 years. The 2025 FIS Continental Cup at Pine Mountain starts Friday and extends through Sunday, with plans to have four competitions if conditions allow: one each on Friday and Sunday, two on Saturday.
