Wausaukee woman killed in crash on State Highway 180

MARINETTE, Wis. — A Wausaukee, Wis., woman is dead after her vehicle went off State Highway 180 and hit a tree Friday night in the Town of Wausaukee.

Sandra A. Kollenbroich, 48, was eastbound about 9 p.m. Friday when she failed to navigate a curve and the vehicle went into the ditch, then crashed into a tree near W4755 State Highway 180, according to a news release from Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller. Kollenbroich was not wearing a seatbelt, he added.

About 30 minutes earlier, deputies had been sent to the area of State Highway 180 and Old County C on a report of a driver who was possibly intoxicated. It was later determined the vehicle involved in the crash was the one from the initial complaint, Miller stated in the news release.

Speed and alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Also assisting at the crash were members of the Wausaukee Fire Department, Wagner Fire Department and Wausaukee Rescue.
