ESCANABA — Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of North Lincoln and Danforth roads in Escanaba.

According to reports, the crash occurred about 1:20 p.m. when a southbound Dodge Ram truck pulling a snowmobile trailer struck a Subaru Legacy attempted to turn west onto Danforth Road.

The Jaws of Life had to be used to free the driver and passenger in the Subaru, but both were pronounced dead at the site, according to the Escanaba Department of Public Safety. Their names were withheld pending the notification of family.

The four occupants of the truck were able to get out on their own and were taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
