Two accused of making meth in Iron County

CRYSTAL FALLS — Authorities have released the names of an Iron River man and woman accused of making methamphetamine in Iron County’s Mastodon Township.

Darryl Dean Hawke, 43, is charged with controlled substance – delivery/manufacture – methamphetamine; controlled substance – operating /maintaining laboratory involving methamphetamine; controlled substance – possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy; ephedrine/pseudoephedrine – purchase/possess to make meth; controlled substance – maintaining a drug house; and ephedrine/pseudoephedrine – attempt to solicit another to obtain.

Lindsay Allison Deneau, 46, is charged with controlled substance – delivery/manufacture – methamphetamine; controlled substance – operating /maintaining laboratory involving methamphetamine; controlled substance – possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy; ephedrine/pseudoephedrine – purchase/possess to make meth; controlled substance – maintaining a drug house; habitual offender – fourth offense.

The high count of delivery and manufacture of methamphetamine carries with it a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

Detectives from the Upper Michigan Substance Enforcement Team on Jan. 21, operating under a search warrant, seized chemicals used to make methamphetamine along with the finished product at the Mastodon Township residence, according to an UPSET news release.

Substances found included lye, solvents, lithium metal, sulfuric acid and salt. Detectives also seized numerous containers used to manufacture meth, the news release stated.

Hawke and Deneau were arraigned Friday in Iron County 95B District Court. No bond is listed on the MiCOURT website. Both are scheduled for preliminary examinations Feb. 3.
