State police make drug arrests in Delta County

DELTA COUNTY — Three people were arraigned in Delta County on felony drug charges after three separate investigations conducted by the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post.

About 2 a.m. Jan. 3, MSP troopers from the Gladstone Post made a traffic stop for multiple violations on Stephenson Avenue near Sixth Avenue North in Escanaba, according to a MSP news release. Further investigation resulted in troopers finding suspected methamphetamine. The driver, 44-year-old Jennifer Verbrigghe of Escanaba, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and placed in the Delta County Jail. A $500 bond was set and she is expected back in court Jan. 23.

About 2:26 a.m. Jan. 4, MSP troopers from the Gladstone Post checked on a woman who was walking in the cold along U.S. 2 near K.5 Road in Wells. The troopers found the woman to be intoxicated. An investigation found she had suspected cocaine. Kristyn Hansen, 42, of Chesapeake, Va., was arrested for possession of cocaine and logged in the Delta County Jail. A $750 bond was set and she is expected back in court Jan. 23.

About 1:40 a.m. Sunday, troopers stopped a vehicle on South Fifth Street near Second Avenue South in Escanaba for a traffic violation. Further investigation resulted in the troopers finding suspected methamphetamine. Trooper arrested the passenger in the vehicle, 37-year-old David Wench of Powers, for possession of methamphetamine and placed him in the Delta County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000 and he is expected back in court Jan. 23.
