Prosecutor releases report for December
IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney Lisa M. Richards has released her department’s activity report for December.
The office received 79 police reports from the five area law enforcement agencies and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
From those reports, the office authorized 16 felony and 35 misdemeanor warrants. There were 23 warrant requests reviewed and denied and one was resubmitted to the investigating agency with a request for further investigation to be completed.
Warrants authorized included 15 for domestic violence and assault related offenses, 13 for alcohol offenses,12 for theft or property related offenses, five for drug related offenses, seven for various traffic offenses, one for weapons offense, three for a wildlife conservation violation, one for a animal cruelty offense and one for a Sex Offender Registration Act violation offense.
The office also drafted and submitted three abuse and neglect petitions and seven juvenile delinquency petitions to the probate court.
Throughout the month, the office had 17 preliminary examinations resulting in six defendants being bound over to the circuit court for further proceedings, three circuit court sentencings, 27 pre-trial conferences, 11 circuit court arraignments and one district court jury trial. The office also conducted numerous motion hearings, probation violation hearings and show cause hearings in the district, probate and circuit courts.
