IRON MOUNTAIN — Thirty-one skaters participated in an Iron Mountain-Kingford alumni hockey game Dec. 28 at Mountain View Ice Arena as a fundraiser for the Dickinson Amateur Hockey Association and Kingsford Flivvers varsity hockey.

Former teammates reunited on the ice, showcasing their skills and camaraderie. Local businesses also supported the cause, contributing through sponsorships and raffle prizes.

Iron Mountain High School senior Annaliese Lucas was main organizer of the event.

“Hockey has been a huge part of my life, and being able to give back to the teams that nurtured my love for the game is incredibly fulfilling,” Lucas said. “The support from the community has been overwhelming, and it’s amazing to see everyone come together for our hockey programs.”

During the intermissions, the DAHA 10U Iron Kings participated in a shootout and fans were able to test their puck-throwing skills during the “Chuck a Puck” event.

Alumni team members included CJ Dantes, Russ Kassin, Todd Larson, Ryan Pepin, Jordan Wadge, Tysen Wadge, David Juul, Ian Weber, Peter Ropiak, Nick Murvich, Drew Richmond, Matt Wiitanen, Matt Berglund, Ryan “Spike” Gordon, Joey Berglund, Isaiah Anderson, Stephen Lassard, Brent Francis, Cody Tompkins, Carter Kreski, Brock Francis, Tony Sleik, Austin VanPembrook, Gabe Lafreniere, Gunther Stolze, Alek Shanks, Andy Reddinger, Erik Berglund, Cody Crockford, Kyle Peterson and Wes Paupore.

Kingsford hockey coach Greg Wadge also participated and Tim Jaska and Dalton Carter served as referees.

“It’s great to see the alumni come back and give back to the community,” said Missy Jaska, mother of Annaliese Lucas and DAHA board member. “Events like this remind us of the importance of supporting our youth and fostering their passions.”

Thanks to the support of the community, more than $2,000 was divided between the programs from a similar event organized by Lucas in 2023.
