Green Bay man arrested on drug charges in UP

BARK RIVER — A Wisconsin man faces drug charges after his arrest Monday during a traffic stop in the central Upper Peninsula.

According to a news release from the Michigan State Police, troopers from the Gladstone post were on patrol in Delta County’s Bark River Township when they noticed a vehicle on U.S. 2/41 committing apparent traffic violations.

The driver, 56-year-old Steven Van Lanen, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of analogues, or prescription drugs, according to the news release.

He was taken to the Delta County Jail in Escanaba.

Van Lanen was arraigned Monday in 94th District Court, where his bond was set at $20,000. His next court date is Feb. 13.
