Fatal Escanaba crash victims named
ESCANABA — Two people who were killed in an two-vehicle crash Thursday at the intersection of North Lincoln Road and Danforth Road in Escanaba have been identified.
They are John W. “Jack” and Corrine G. Wigand, both 91, of Wetmore.
The crash occurred about 1:20 p.m. Thursday. The Jaws of Life were dispatched because of reports of people being trapped in one of the vehicles.
It was discovered a southbound Dodge Ram truck pulling a snowmobile trailer had struck a Subaru that attempted to turn westbound onto Danforth Road. The driver and passenger were freed using the Jaws of Life. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The four occupants of the truck were able to exit on their own and were taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
