IRON MOUNTAIN — Free meals for Christmas will be available in Norway, Kingsford and Iron River.
Grace Methodist Church of Norway will provide a free community meal for takeout from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the church parking lot.
The menu will include pork chops, mashed potatoes, squash and dessert. While the dinner is free, a donation basket will be available.
Reservations are required for this meal. Those who want to receive a meal should call Chris Spence at 906-282-9752 by 4 p.m. Friday. Everyone is welcome to pick up food.
The church is at 130 Odill Drive, behind the Jake Menghini Museum, and is known as Crossroads, a facility shared by Grace Methodist and Bethany Lutheran churches
First Presbyterian Church of Kingsford will serve a hot meal on Christmas Day by delivery or drive-through pick-up only.
This free ham dinner can be delivered directly to homes or picked up at the church. Deliveries will begin at 11 a.m. Pick-ups will be available from 11 a.m. until noon.
Those picking up meals should enter the parking lot using the Hamilton Avenue entrance, where attendants will then guide drivers into the right line.
Reservations are required by Friday and can be made by calling the church office at 906-774-4211. Anyone interested in helping deliver meals also can sign up by calling this number.
They served their first Christmas Day community meal in December 1993. Last year they served 750 meals on Christmas Day, which was one of the highest number over the years.
The First Baptist Church in Iron River is partnering with Bump’s Burgers to provide a free meal from noon to 3 p.m. Christmas day.
The dining room at Bump’s Burgers, 19 W. Genesee St., will be open for the public to eat on site or pick up meals. No reservation is needed for seating; the hostess will provide directions on where to go.
The meal is free but donations will be accepted.
Meals can be delivered as well, starting at 12:30 p.m. Those planning to take part are asked to call 906-284-7608 between 4 p.m. and midnight Thursday, Friday or Saturday for reservations, email them at www.FirstBaptistIronRiver.org/Christmas or call Christmas day.
They are seeking volunteer delivery drivers as well — those interested should come to the restaurant after 12:30 p.m. and talk to the hostess.
