IRON MOUNTAIN — A 40-year-old woman has been arrested after being accused of making bomb and shooting threats at First National Bank & Trust late Monday morning, according to the Iron Mountain Police Department.

The woman is at Dickinson County Jail on charges of terroristic threats and improper use of telecommunications systems. Her name was being withheld until she is arraigned, according to a news release from Jeffery Solka, director of police and fire services.

The bank at 223 S. Stephenson Ave. in downtown Iron Mountain reported the threats at about 10 a.m. Monday. The building was evacuated safely and lockdown protocols activated across all branches, according to the news release.

During the incident, “increased police presence has been noted at other First National Bank locations, including the Kingsford and South branch offices. This was to ensure the safety of all bank offices, customers and employees.”

First National Bank & Trust posted on Facebook that all its sites in Dickinson County had been closed for the day but would resume normal business hours today.

Solka asked that anyone with information related to this incident contact the Iron Mountain Police Department at 906-774-1234, adding that all tips are handled confidentially.

Further details will not be released until the investigation is completed and charges are requested from the Dickinson County prosecutor, he said in the news release.

The Iron Mountain Police Department was assisted by the Kingsford Public Safety Department, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department and Dispatch Center, Michigan State Police and the FBI field office in Marquette.

“We take all threats seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety of our community,” Solka said in the news release. “Our officers are trained to handle these situations swiftly and effectively.”
