Winter parking rules take effect
IRON MOUNTAIN — Monday’s snowfall means overnight winter parking restrictions are now in effect until March 31 in three area municipalities.
While the restrictions started Nov. 1, officials normally do not enforce the ban until the first snow or icy conditions that require the plows/salters to come out.
The Iron Mountain area had received about 3 inches of snow by afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
The winter ban prohibits vehicles from being parked on streets, alleys and in city-owned parking lots in Iron Mountain, Kingsford and Norway between the hours of 2 and 7 a.m., officials said.
