Three UP counties have lowest gas prices in Michigan
Michigan gas prices the day before Thanksgiving were 2 cents lower than they were last year and 6 cents above the current national average.
The average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Michigan is currently $3.13 per gallon, the American Automobile Association reported Wednesday. In 2023, the state’s average gas price the day before Thanksgiving was $3.15 per gallon.
Wednesday’s average is also a 5-cent spike from Tuesday and a 6-cent increase from a week ago.
The counties with the lowest average gas prices are Menominee at a $2.85 per gallon average; Houghton at $2.91; Dickinson and Montmorency at $2.92; and Roscommon and Clare at $2.96.
The counties with the highest average prices are Huron and Barry at $3.27; Crawford at $3.26; and Bay and Livingston at $3.25.
Neighboring Midwestern states Wisconsin and Ohio have gas prices below the national average, with gas costing an average of 10 to 30 cents less, respectively, than they did last year.
