Mobile food pantry Wednesday at Kingsford church
KINGSFORD — A Feeding America West Michigan mobile food pantry will take place Wednesday at Redemption Hill Church, 332 S. Carpenter Ave., Kingsford.
A distribution at this new location is also scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11.
FAWM mobile food pantries provide free food to any household experiencing food insecurity. The format for food pickup in November and December will remain the same as it had been at the last location, the Tri-City Cinemas in Quinnesec. Both will be drive-thru distributions with a 10 10 a.m. start time.
Redemption Hill Church will be open for regular activities during both events.
Church patrons will use the same entrance to the parking lot as Feeding America customers, on the north side of the church. The entrance will be staffed by volunteers and clearly marked. Feeding America volunteer parking will be behind the First Presbyterian Church next door, 395 Hamilton Ave.
Volunteers will begin registering mobile food pantry customers at their vehicles at least one hour before the start time. As with previous distributions, customers will be asked to provide full name, full address, household size and make-up, and reason for needing food.
No proof of identity, residency, or eligibility is required.
If picking up for another household, the same information must be provided in a signed note by an adult member of that household. There is a maximum of three households per vehicle. Customers should have in their vehicles boxes, laundry baskets, totes or coolers where volunteers can place the food, and should be prepared for a lengthy wait in line.
Both customers and volunteers will have access to restrooms inside the church.
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iron Mountain is the local partner for the FAWM program. Questions about the FAWM mobile food pantries or about volunteering should be directed to Anda Tavonatti at 906-239-6778, not to Redemption Hill Church or Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
Feeding America West Michigan is an equal opportunity provider.
