McWilliams arraigned on criminal sexual conduct charges
IRON MOUNTAIN — A Norway man recently extradited from California is accused of sexually assaulting two minors.
Trentin Cody McWilliams, 23, had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf Monday in Dickinson County Circuit Court. McWilliams was not present, having filed an arraignment waiver.
McWilliams is charged with criminal sexual conduct – second degree (person under 13, defendant 17 years of age or older) and children – accosting for immoral purposes.
In a separate case, McWilliams was arraigned Nov. 4 in Dickinson County Circuit Court on three felony counts of criminal sexual conduct – third degree (person 13-15) and two high court misdemeanor counts criminal sexual conduct – fourth degree (person 13-15). An arraignment waiver was filed in that appearance as well and a not guilty plea entered on his behalf.
McWilliams is accused of sexually assaulting a child at a relative’s residence in 2018 and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in a vehicle in October 2022.
According to the Michigan Department of Attorney General, McWilliams was extradited in September by the U.S. Marshal Service as part of the ongoing, recently announced Operation Survivor Justice. The operation is a partnership between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local county prosecutors and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate, apprehend and return to Michigan fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants.
“Operation Survivor Justice is already having a profound impact across Michigan and the nation,” Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a news release. “Through our partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service, we’ve successfully ensured a number of individuals accused of sexual assault are facing justice in court.”
McWilliams remains in jail in lieu of $350,000 and $200,000 bonds. A pretrial conference is set for Dec. 2.
