Kudwa elected Menominee sheriff; Meyer Township races decided
MENOMINEE — Menominee Police Detective Sergeant Darrin Kudwa, a Republican, defeated incumbent Menominee County Sheriff Mike Holmes, a Democrat, in Tuesday’s general election.
Kudwa received 7,848 votes to 4,934 for Holmes.
In Meyer Township, Republican Chad Knodl prevailed over Robert Gurgall in the race for supervisor, 295 to 253. Gurgall ran without party affiliation.
Lynda Gurgall, a Republican, was elected Meyer Township clerk with 419 votes. Wilma Paulsen Kennedy, who ran without party affiliation, received 121 votes.
Elected as Meyer Township trustees were incumbent Republicans Mark Schoen, 321 votes, and Brenton Ayotte, 252 votes. Candidates who ran without party affiliation and fell short were Larry Dugree, 230 votes; Travis Dugree, 176 votes; and Melissa Hart, 87 votes.
A Meyer Township lake weed mitigation millage was approved, 292 yes to 265 no.
A sinking fund millage proposal for North Central Area Schools was defeated, 806 no to 741 yes. The proposed levy was three mills for four years to raise $1.4 million.
