KINGSFORD — Twenty-two sixth, seventh and eighth grade students participated in robotics and two teams traveled to Houghton for the First Tech Challenge qualifier. The teams were the Silver Sparks and the Robo Revolution. Coaches were Erik Berglund and Jean Constantini.
Mentors were Bob Forstrom and Cliff Netto. The Silver Sparks won every one of their qualifying matches and finished third overall after the qualifying matches. They invited Team 5384 (Emergency Situation Evacuate Now) to join their alliance.
They won their first playoff match, but the competition proved to be too much and they lost the next two matches and were eliminated.
Funding for the teams is through sponsors and the MDE Robotics 99H Grant. Their major sponsors this year are AUTODESK and MJ Electric.
The wrap up meeting will be after school on Monday.
