Titanic presentation Sunday

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Braumart’s next event in its Historic Lecture series will be “Titanic and Her Local Ties,” presented by Emily Cummings on Sunday. Doors open at 1 p.m., with the presentation to start at 2 p.m.

Cummings has had a love of history, local and beyond, for as long as she can remember. Working as the local history/adult programming/programming coordinator for the Dickinson County Library has allowed her to delve into history in an exciting, fun and rewarding way.

When she learned there were local ties to a family that was onboard the RMS Titanic who had lived close to the house she grew up in on Iron Mountain’s east side, Cummings was intrigued.

She wanted to learn more about these people and why they were sailing across the Atlantic on this incredible “unsinkable” ship that went down on its maiden voyage on April 15, 1912.

Those who attend the presentation will also learn about the 2025 100th anniversary year and upcoming Braumart Fall Fundraising Benefit event, which includes chances to win two tickets to a 2024 Green Bay Packers game. Previews of the renovation plans are displayed in the foyer.

Tickets are available online at www.thebraumart.org and at the door while supplies last.

Starting at $3.50/week.
