Mr. Tempo’s Tune Tots to perform at the Dickinson County Library

CHRISTOPHER ASHBURN, better known as Mr. Tempo, will perform Saturday at the Dickinson County Library.

IRON MOUNTAIN — Kingsford High School graduate Christopher Ashburn, better known as Mr. Tempo, will perform an interactive concert for kids through age 5 at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

While Ashburn was on parental leave with his son, he was looking for things to do with him. He noticed there wasn’t a lot going on to do with his son, so he got creative.

“I’ve been a musician my whole life,” Ashburn said. “We are only about eight to 10 shows in, and it’s been a great so far.”

Mr. Tempo’s show is an interactive, engaging show that will encourage movement and inspire an interest in music for kids.

Tune Tots shows are all about letting the creative young mind run free. Children spend a lot of their time learning and understanding, and music is an important aspect of early literacy to create lifelong readers.

“Singing with your child is a great way to build literary skills,” said Amanda Kivi, early elementary/literacy specialist. “Songs with rhyme help break down sounds in the words.”

This will be the first time Mr. Tempo’s Tune Tots will be performing at the library. This program is free of charge and no registration is required.

The 2024 Summer Reading Program: Adventure Begins at Your Library continues, and this program is sponsored by Judge Tom Slagle and the Friends of the Library.
