Hill, Bohnak to square off for state House seat
MARQUETTE — State Rep. Jen Hill, D-Marquette, defeated two Democratic challengers in Tuesday’s primary election while Karl Bohnak of Negaunee emerged the easy winner in the Republican primary to earn the right to challenge Hill in November in the 109th District.
Hill received 80% support, trailed by Randy Girard, 16%, and Margaret Brumm, 4%.
In the Republican race, Bohnak, a former longtime television meteorologist, collected 75% of the vote, trailed by Burt Mason with 15% and Melody Wagner with 10%.
The district includes Alger, Baraga and Marquette counties and the eastern part of Dickinson County — the city of Norway and Breen, Felch, Norway, Waucedah and West Branch townships.
