Snowshoe/hikes planned in February

MARQUETTE — The Winter Snowshoe/Hike Harlow Lake Area will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Eastern time Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Harlow Lake is north of Marquette off Marquette County Road 550. The exact location will be emailed a week before with directions about where to meet. This will either be a snowshoe event or a hike, weather dependent. Plan on 2 to 2 1/2 miles of narrow trail with possible ice/snow. Participants should dress accordingly.

The cost is $5 members, $10 nonmembers. The liaison is Elizabeth Bates, 906-345-9295, elizabethjbates@hotmail.com. The event is limited to 10 participants.

Additionally, from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 21, a snowshoe/hike will take place at the Vielmetti-Peters Reserve on Brickyard Road in Marquette Township.

This hike will be about 2 miles total. Those who do not have snowshoes should let organizers know, as some may be available.

The presenter will be the Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy staff. The cost is $5 members, $10 nonmembers. Contact Lisa Stasiuk, 906-361-1919, lisajstasiuk@gmail.com. The event limit is 20 participants.
