‘Something for everyone’ at Saturday’s Big Holiday Craft Show in Kingsford
KINGSFORD — Get into the holiday spirit early at the annual Daily News Newspapers in Education Big Holiday Craft Show on Saturday in Kingsford.
The 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. event is expected to draw thousands to Kingsford Middle/High School, 445 Hamilton Ave. Admission is free.
The Big Holiday Craft Show started in 2006 and has grown in popularity among local community members, as it has not only crafters and vendors from throughout Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin but direct sales companies as well. This year’s show is once again sold out.
This year’s event features more than 70 vendors — many of them new this year — and 85 booths, said Jennifer Flynn, Daily News circulation manager/NIE coordinater.
“Our Big Holiday Craft Show is known as one of the Upper Peninsula’s biggest, and is home to an array of items and services … something for everyone,” Flynn said.
Those include baked goods, raffle tickets, handmade blankets, hats, rugs, leather earrings, wood and resin crafts, Tastefully Simple products, Pure Romance, handmade soaps, scrubs, soy candles, books, sports collectibles, refurbished items, maple syrup, jams, local honey, jewelry, home decor signs, wreaths and Christmas decor, homemade alpaca wool items and wood turnings.
A complete list of vendors for the show is on page 8-A.
This show is a fundraising event that benefits NIE, a non-profit program dedicated to providing area schools with newspapers free of charge that assist teachers and other educators during the school year as a “living textbook.”
Concessions, including the ever-popular beefy nachos, will be available on site through the Kingsford Music Booster Club until mid-afternoon.
Community members are encouraged to come support the vendors and crafters, as well as the booster club.
