The DayDreamers takes stage for Music in the Park concert

The DayDreamers will perform for the Music in the Park final concert of the season on Thursday in downtown Norway. Music begins at 7 p.m.

NORWAY — A near perfect early August evening greeted all who came out to the ninth Music in the Park concert of the 2022 season as the Community Jazz Ensemble of Marinette-Menominee performed to a large and appreciative audience on Aug. 4.

The band had the audience reveling in big band standards, as well as clever new arrangements of several favorites from pop and jazz artists alike. This week, Music in the Park will bring the 2022 season to a close as it again partners with Iron Mountain’s “Out to Lunch” for the fourth and final “double header” concert. The DayDreamers will perform for the 10th and final concert of the season. The free summertime music series will conclude at 7 p.m. Thursday at the bandshell in downtown Norway.

“The DayDreamers,” from Marquette, will bring an awesome performance to Music in the Park fans. Delivering hits from yesterday and today, the Daydreamers’ full five-piece band has over 100 years of combined musical experience.

Centered in and around Marquette, they have performed in a variety of venues and festivals across the Upper Peninsula, including Grand Marais, Forestville and Marquette’s Sea Food Fest.

The duo of frontline singers, Jack Bauer and Nick Johnson, both on guitar and vocals, will keep you tapping your toes and asking for more. The band also features top shelf musicians on bass, drums and keyboards — all of whom will be introduced during their show, and they will have bandshell park rocking.

The band looks very forward to playing for great Dickinson County audiences in both Iron Mountain and Norway, notes event coordinator Carol Sundstrom.

“We hope folks that come into Iron Mountain for this week’s ‘Out to Lunch’ concert with The DayDreamers, will enjoy the afternoon, have a nice dinner in the area and come on down to beautiful bandshell park for our final performance of this summer’s fabulous series, as the band gets to ‘stretch out’ for a full 90 minute show — bring your dancing shoes,” adds Sundstrom.

Music in the Park is grateful for the major financial support they have received from several organizations, businesses and individuals this year, without whom this concert series would not be possible: Law Office of Steven Tinti, Norway-Vulcan Senior Center, Dickinson County Office of Veterans Affairs, Dickinson Area Tourism Association, Evergreen Meadows of Norway, Norway Area Preservation Society, Jim’s Music of Iron Mountain, The Curtis J. Brackett Memorial Foundation, Larry and Kathy Bourdeau, Bill and Darlene Asselin, Vicki and Bill Pipp, WJNR-WOBE-WHTO Result Radio, The Daily News, and numerous individual and anonymous supporters.

“Music in the Park is so grateful to the fantastic audiences that have come out all summer to enjoy the music this summer — it’s been a great season,” said Sundstrom.

In case of inclement weather, Music in the Park concerts will be shifted to the Crossroads Church on Odill Drive behind the Norway Historical Museum on the east edge of Norway.

Change of venue announcements are made via the Music in the Park Facebook page, usually by 6 p.m. the night of the show.

Starting at $2.99/week.
