Two from IM face drug charges

IRON MOUNTAIN — Two people have been arrested in Iron Mountain on drug-related charges after a months-long investigation by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.

The UPSET investigation led to a warranted search of an Iron Mountain residence Jan. 6 that turned up several grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, cash, electronic devices and other evidence of drug distribution.

Daniel Droese, 32, and Stephanie Motto, 33, both of Iron Mountain, are now in the Dickinson County Jail on numerous drug-related charges.

According to an UPSET news release, the two were receiving large quantities of drugs in the Iron Mountain area through several shipments from outside of Michigan. UPSET was able to intercept a shipment after the search warrant that contained about 2 ounces of crystal methamphetamine that was destined for the Iron Mountain residence.

UPSET was assisted by Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post K9 team, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Iron Mountain Police Department and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department.
