Remains found of missing man

MARINETTE, Wis. — A couple walking on their wooded property in the town of Athelstane on Saturday afternoon found the remains of a Milwaukee man missing since 2018.

The remains of 54-year-old Benjamin D. Bodwin appeared to have been hanging from a tree for some time, Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve stated in a news release Monday.

Bodwin last had been seen in August 2018, after walking away from his disabled vehicle at an Athelstane business. No foul play is suspected and the medical examiner has ruled the death a suicide, Sauve said in the release. The man’s family has been notified.

In addition to the medical examiner, the sheriff’s office was assisted by the Marinette County Central Dispatch and the Athelstane Fire Department.

Starting at $2.99/week.
