Great North Bank announces Ferguson, Chartier promotions

FLORENCE, Wis. — Great North Bank has promoted Sara Ferguson to senior vice president– chief accounting officer and Michelle Chartier to vice president — deposit operations.

Ferguson joined Great North Bank in 2017 as controller, bringing with her a wealth of experience from her time at KPMG LLP in Minneapolis, and Anderson Tackman & Company PLC in Iron Mountain, according to a GNB news release.

As part of the GNB senior management team, Ferguson has played an instrumental role in strategic planning, leading core conversions, and overseeing systems/software upgrades. She also leads the Asset-Liability Committee, the Information Security Program, and IT operations. She also helped guide the bank through its recent acquisition of Multi-Bank Services.

Ferguson has a bachelor of science in accounting/corporate finance from Northern Michigan University and earned her CPA license in Michigan in 2010. She also recently completed the 2024 Financial Managers School in Madison, Wis., sponsored by the Graduate School of Banking and National Financial Managers Society.

Chartier has been with Great North Bank since 2018, after moving to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Starting her career as a teller in Baton Rouge, La., Chartier quickly expanded her expertise, progressing through roles in operations, payments and fraud prevention.

At Great North Bank, Chartier has made significant contributions to improving deposit products, processes, and compliance. She has provided essential training and support across multiple departments and is currently managing several large projects with FIS.

This fall, Chartier will attend the WBA Deposit Compliance School in Madison, Wis.
